On Saturday March 31 at 8:30 PM, hubby and I will switch off the lights for 60 minutes. This is our first time to support this largest annual environmental event and I’m excited. I got wind of it back in 2008 when I was still leading the CSR programs of my former employer, but I never really got to participate in it. Now that we have our own place and we are both in the country, we thought this is a good time to start a tradition. An hour of lights out may seem a small effort but it does create a good awareness that we direly need to save Mother Earth. It’s a call to action not just for the government and the big businesses but also to small individuals like us. Here’s to creating a better future for the next generation.

an appreciated compliment

Lately, I’ve been receiving compliments from my friends and colleagues on the house design and household tips I share. In all sincerity, I am surprised I’m getting those! If you ask me, I’m not that creative nor that organized. I do not excel in that department nor dream of acing it. I do want some sort of character and order in our home (who doesn’t??) and in my own little ways, I try to put some style and harmony in it. I try to keep things nice and tidy every now and then, but not the one who would parade such as proof of what good working wife I am (I know some who do brag and share tips as if it’s their own innovations LOL). I actually think I suck at them.

Having a small budget for the house makes one try to make do of what they have. It probably helped that when we were renovating our house, we didn’t have the moolah to hire an interior designer. I was forced to rely on my brother-architect’s tips (which turned out great by the way) and the Internet. Houzz and Digsdigs really did an awesome job in helping me achieve the look for our home. It also helped that I have the zest to do regular hunting for the best bargains in town. I now have a mental note of where to source what at the best possible price.

I guess such efforts merit some kind of recognition from my peers and I thank them for that. It warms my heart that real people actually think I’m doing great at this department. :)

I’m not lucky, I am blessed.

Last weekend is unforgettable, definitely one for the books. I don’t think I’ll ever be blogging about it in detail but the gist is we got scammed and were able to intercept it in the nick of time. I actually thought we would never be able to recover our valuables. I guess my guardian angel decided to work overtime that day when she (or he) saw how devastated we were from seeing our room ransacked, she stopped the whole scam from happening. Talk about intercession!

I thought of sharing this image with you. It’s good to be reminded that in spite of the negativity around us, we are still blessed in one way or another. Happy Monday!
